Reviews about Oreck Clean Home Center
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆June 17, 2019, by Kevin CrookUnhelpful and genuinely not concerned about what I was looking for. Employee/owner/manager was the only one there. I feel he knew that this was practically the only place in town I could find the right belt and bags for my Oreck XL (Extended Life) and did not extend any effort whatsoever to provide an ounce of customer service. Order online if you have the time and avoid the retail store.
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆June 14, 2019, by CarolineSummary: Oreck Fort Collins store is unhelpful, rude, expensive, and unreliable. I took my old Oreck vacuum cleaner to have them repair the frayed electrical cord and a plate with a missing silicone(?) strip and a side roller on the base plate. I also wanted to see their latest Oreck uprights and the Miele vacuum cleaners as I need two vacuum cleaners for my home use. I always make a point of approaching the store keepers/repairman/etc. with a respect and a smile. It was NOT close to closing time and the store was empty and the only service person I met didn’t appear to be busy. However, the service was one of the worst ever. He was incredibly unhelpful and surprisingly rude from the very beginning to the end. First, he said to me “Your vacuum cleaner is very, very old – it’s no longer made. You should, instead, purchase the refurbished one for $199, because it will cost you $60 to just fix the electrical cord, and the base plate and rollers are going to be $90 or more.” He also said that the motor was going bad too. BTW, later, I found out that my motor was just fine. He was claiming that it was bad by swinging the electrical cord as it was plugged in, and running, which made the electrical connector (to the wall socket) to go in and out, and that made the motor go in and out. Anyway, I was not interested in the refurbished one since it was only 1 year newer than my “very old” Oreck. I had to decide if I should keep repairing my "very old" Oreck or not….I started to wonder how often are these replaceable parts going to go bad…?? I asked the store person how long the rollers last on the average? He said “It depends!!”. I clarified by saying “I just need a rough idea…would you say it’s usually less than year for say, an average 3-bedroom household with half hardwood floor and half carpeted floor…or?” He kept repeating “it depends!!” over and over for any maintenance type of questions I asked him. I decided to drop the maintenance questions with this person and decided to check out the new/latest Oreck upright models. When I asked him to show them to me, he didn't even move. He was behind the counter, and just moved his head (raised his chin) towards the newer models. He said something like “those are very, very expensive!”. It almost made me think that he thought I couldn't afford them. When I asked, what improvements have been made to the latest Oreck vacuum cleaner to be better than the older ones (aside from the lighter weight), he said with a very mean/stern tone: “I can’t tell you – that’s a proprietary information!”. In fact, any technical details I wanted to hear (such as an amperage, etc.) were all answered tersely with “It’s a proprietary information!” I couldn’t help chuckling out of amusement when I heard him say that phrase for the 4th or 5th time. But in general, I maintained a positive and respectful behavior throughout these exchanges with this person. It'll remain as a mystery as to why he acted so rude from the instant I walked in. Perhaps this was just another gender discrimination. I don’t think it wasn’t a socio-economic discrimination since I was dressed nicely. In the end, I went to a different vacuum cleaner repair store (“Maggie’s Sewing and Vacuum”), and they repaired my vacuum cleaner for 1/2 the cost of what the Oreck store quoted me, and they were very respectful and helpful. My vacuum cleaner is working just fine too. I still plan to purchase a new vacuum cleaner soon (I need an extra one). Even if I choose another Oreck, I don't plan to purchase it from Fort Collins Oreck store.
