  We've never esterday, I had an incident with an employee at, The Children's Place. I was buying Aubriella's Christmas dress, of course last minute. I had made a comment to the sales associate on how all she wanted was a big red dress like Quvenzhané Wallis had worn in the remake of, Annie, but I couldn't find "the one". The other sales associate behind the counter asked me, "The movie with the black kid?". I was completely and utterly taken aback. I asked her what she meant by that. She stated that it was, "Weird they would remake a movie like that." Once I informed her that my daughter is black, and it's wonderful to have a relatable main character- instead of blonde haired blue eyed actress, and again asked her what was so wrong with that? She replied with, "I didn't mean it like that, I just don't get why they needed to remake it like that. I just don't get why they would remake that movie with a bunch of black people." I was then made to feel as if I was overreacting, and what she said was completely valid. What is so weird about that? I am more appalled by the fact that she saw nothing wrong with what she said. I can guarantee that if Pierre had been there, those words would have never come out of her mouth. It is completely unacceptable and disrespectful. I can only hope that the correct course of action is taken on management's part. Until then, we will no longer shop with them. I have spoken to a manager who states she will follow up with me on what actions were taken. I can only hope the employee is terminated. You can not teach tolerance and respect in an HR mandated class.
